The safety, security and well-being of your children are Lorna's primary objectives and she has strived to ensure that every aspect of her childminding service meets or exceeds the regulations stipulated by the Care Commission for Childcare Services.
Lorna has adopted and follows the six main principles of the National Care Standards laid down by the Scottish Government.

My name is Lorna Smith and I have been registered as a childminder in the Deans area of Livingston in West Lothian since 2007.
I am 43 years old, married to Mike and have a Daughter Erin who is 8 years old.
I became a registered child-minder in April 2007 and love every minute of it! I enjoy the interaction with all the children and watching them grow physically and emotionally.
I am a member of the Scottish Child-minding Association and hold their Public Liability Insurance.
Prior to registering as a childminder I had for a long time thought about going into childminding, but it was when a friend went through her registration as a childminder that I started to think about it more seriously.
I set about discovering what was required for registration as a childminder and after initial training and making all the neccessary alterations to ensure my home was child safe I applied to become a registered childminder.
Since my registration as a childminder I have undertaken further extensive training to enable me to further improve my service to children and their parents.
I really enjoy spending time with children, playing fun and educational games, helping them learn new skills and watching them have fun and develop.
I believe I am one of the few lucky people who can honestly say that I really enjoy my work and really could not see myself doing any other job.
